What is the Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) Program?

The CNA Program is designed to prepare students for the crucial role of a nurse assistant in healthcare settings, including hospitals, nursing homes, and home care environments. This program equips you with practical skills, such as patient care, communication, and infection control, to deliver high-quality care.

Criticare Medical Institute’s CNA Program is state-approved and aligns with certification requirements, ensuring you’re fully prepared to take the certification exam and start working immediately after completion.

 Learning Model:  Blended/ Hybrid (Online self-learning followed by in person classes). Delivery using Ready CNA Program. 

 Duration: 15 days Course in person.
2-weeks Online (Ready CNA Program) – Done at your home

1 week Lab (In-person)

Program Details

The program details for the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) course are outlined below, highlighting comprehensive training in patient care with a focus on providing social and emotional support. The curriculum equips students with essential skills for basic nursing care and daily living tasks, cultivating a compassionate and proficient healthcare workforce.

Program Length

The entire duration of the training includes 113-hours of training, consisting of 73 hours of instruction (including 33 hours of Lab skills practice/certification exam preparation) and 40 hours of supervised clinical experience at Nursing Home.

Credentials and Certifications

Upon successful completion of the CNA training program and full payment of all class fees, you will receive a CNA Class Completion Certificate issued by Criticare Medical Institute which is required to register for the NNAAP Certification exam.

After you have passed the certification exams candidates you will be listed on the Georgia Nurse Aide Registry and are then eligible for employment as a Nurse Aide.

Eligibility Requirements

You must be age 17 or older by the first day of training, unless exception is granted by Director.You must be able to read and speak English and be able to have basic computer knowledge to operate the CNAready program of the online theory.You must NOT have been convicted of a felony crime within the last 10 years and/or have a current felony charge pending (including under the first offender program). Pregnant applicants are asked to provide a letter from their physician giving permission for them to lift heavy objects.You must provide by the first day of class, documentation, dated within the last 12 months stating a negative PPD (TB exposure) skin test or chest x-ray results indicating no TB.

Documents Required

Completion of an CNA enrollment application packet from Criticare Medical Institute.

Completed finger printed report of Criminal Record Report and Consent form for Criminal Record Report, dated within the last 30 days.

A negative TB skin test or chest x-ray (if applicable) and immunization records (if applicable) within two (2) weeks of admission

$100 non-refundable Application fee

Provide two forms of Identification – one (1) must be a government issued picture identification and one (1) must be a valid Social Security Card. Names on both forms of ID must match.

Program Outcomes

This program prepares individuals to apply knowledge and skill training necessary to complete requirements for certification as a Certified Nurse Assistant and be qualified to seek employment as a Certified Nurse Aide.

Every effort is made to ensure that you succeed during your time as a student. If you find yourself in need of additional assistance, contact your program instructor for specific days that are specifically for tutoring. Georgia Nurse Aide License

This course makes you eligible to take the Georgia Nurse Aide Licensing exam.

Testing Requirement

  • Individuals must pass both a written and skills test.
  • If the candidate does not take the Written/oral and Skills Competency Examination within one (1) year (3 attempts) of successfully completing the State Approved Nurse Aide Training Program Course, then the candidate must re-take the nurse aide training course again and take the state written and skills competency examination.

Networking and Other Events

Occasionally, Criticare Medical Institute may offer events to allow students to network with potential employers. Students will be given advanced notice by their program faculty so they can be plan to attend if desired.
